Obama Administration To Provide Support To Sub-Saharan Africa To Fight HIV

The Obama Administration has proposed to provide medication to people infected with HIV of sub-Saharan Africa. Previous research has shown that early prevention and treatment helps in limiting the spread of HIV. Moreover, its treatment boosts healthy and improved lifestyle.

It has been proposed that the US can provide HIV medications and treatment to millions of infected people living abroad with the same financial resources. The Administration is looking forward to use the same money, collected by it from various countries, to fight HIV.

Besides, a campaign is being launched by the New York City with the pursuit of promoting awareness about early treatment of HIV. The President of the US, Obama, is planning to provide vaccination or treatment to six million people, living abroad, by the end of 2013.

The main goal of Obama Administration is to provide vaccination to infected expecting mums and new born babies. It has been felt that the HIV treatment and vaccination has received a halt from the global inflation.

Obama has promised to provide an additional funding of $50 million in the country in 2012 so that HIV patients could be treated timely. The funding would be directed towards the HIV clinics to provide drugs to patients who can’t afford to buy the vaccination.

It has been informed that a large number of populations are unaware of being infected with HIV. Federal health officials have geared up to curb HIV infection from the country. They are encouraging doctors and patients to get HIV diagnosed earlier so that it could be treated.

The federal officials would be making an additional funding of$2 million to Broward House, a social service agency, which will be working with the government to fight HIV. Marsha Martin, a HIV prevention specialist, noted, “The federal government realizes it has to put more resources into the community”.
