Bill Gates Launches ‘Reinventing Toilet Program’

The Bill and Melinda gates foundation is all set to launch a unique sanitation program, entitled as reinventing the Toilet. The sources had revealed that to create new advanced sanitation methods, an amount of $42 million had been granted by the Company. The announcement was made public, at Rwanda conference.

Frank Rijsberman, Director of the foundation's Water, Sanitation and Hygiene initiative, added, “The sanitation revolution, which started in the 18th century with the introduction of the flush toilet and sewers, "has saved more lives than any innovation in the history of public health or medical science”.

The WHO figures also claimed that about 40% of the people still don’t have any access to clean and safe sanitary toilets and about 1 billion were using unhygienic open systems, which further reaffirmed that the unhygienic waste got mixed with the food and water, as a result of which the children death rates were increased to I. 5 billion.

Frank Rijsberman, Director of water, sanitation and hygiene, quoted that the sanitation problem was always a neglected area and the project would be adopting all the necessary measures to end the problem.

He added, "Water is obviously important, but so many people focus on it, its more 'touchy-feely'. Sanitation is something you don't talk about in polite conversation".
