In order to show their resentment against web censorship that is taking place in India from June 9, Anonymous, an international hacker group, hacked two websites of BJP.
The group posted a message on Twitter that they have hacked the websites, so they can raise ill effects of web censor ship among Indians. They have urged Indians to organize campaigns against the web censorship.
"Today they took away your right to use a few websites... day after tomorrow they will take away your freedom of speech”, read the message on the website. The message also gave out tips to people that they should wear Guy Fawkes Masks at the time when they come out on streets to protest against web censorship.
However, when Indian media asked the reason for choosing the BJP sites only, the hacker group said that they want to put across their message among people. So, they chose these two websites.
Web censorship is taking places in cities like Bangalore, Mangalore, Kochi, Chennai, Vizag, Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad. It was some days back that CERT-IN, the nodal agency in India for monitoring security and hacking incidents warned that some hacking agencies have been targeting Indian websites to accomplish their goals.
