It has been revealed in a latest report that Microsoft has decided to buy internet startup Yammer with an aim to have access to varied sharing features just like Facebook does.
The announcement has been made by Microsoft two weeks following its word with Yammer to negotiate. The deal has been finalized on $1.2 billion, as per the findings.
It is being said that the company would introduce the new feature to the suits containing all its business software applications. Also, the same would probably bring a huge change in the existing technology industry.
Yammer allows one to create private social networks, with the help of which employees can keep knowledge of the work being undertaken by other employees.
The report claims that social-networking features as well as the Internet-connected applications may realize a boost in their demand with the new technology being bought.
The company had last year also bought Internet video chat service Skype for an amount of $8.5 billion. And it has now been aiming to increase its social communications.
"Our thinking was based on the fit with Microsoft and the fact that we think Microsoft is a great partner for us in expanding the service and taking it to the next level", said David Sacks, co-founder and CEO of Yammer group.
