Yahoo Picks Google's Marissa Mayer as Chief in their Revival Fight

Yahoo is carefully playing its game of revival. The new chosen CEO of the group is none other than the Google Inc's first engineer, Ms. Marissa Mayer.

It seems that the struggling Yahoo Inc is throwing its dices very smartly in this revival fight, as it has picked Ms. Mayer, an engineer holding Silicon Valley credentials, to become its new CEO to turn around the situations of the former Internet powerhouse.

Ms. Mayer, 37, has marked her big win over front-runner and acting chief executive Mr. Ross Levinsohn. She is Yahoo's third CEO in this year.

The company and the new officer are both looking forward to stem losses to Google and Facebook Inc with her experiences and skills. Her hiring is expected to rejoin the Internet Company with Web technology and products.

Ms. Mayer is Google's 20th employee. Her credentials included a big business to the company as she added a clean and simple Google search interface, which is still in use today and is running at top among Web surfers.

She was reached by Yahoo's board for the offer in mid-June. "This is a very competitive and a tough space. I don't think that success is by any means guaranteed. My focus is always end-users, great technology and terrific talent", she said.

With this announcement, Yahoo’s shares have witnessed a jump of 2% in their values to $15.97 in after-hours trading.
