Noticing higher use of thousands of telephone numbers to carry out telemarketing activities without getting them registered for same, the government has got stricter over the issue followed by disconnecting more than 51,000 such unregistered telephone numbers.

The action has already been taken and will continue at least till July, 2012 until any appropriate action is taken against all of them.

It was after the regulations confirmed that 51,181 telephone numbers of subscribers are operating as telemarketers but are not registered to carry on same that the government has taken the action of disconnection and disconnected all those numbers till July 30, 2012.

The above facts were written by Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Mr. Milind Deora to Rajya Sabha today.
