There is no second opinion on the fact that Facebook is the biggest social networking website. It has over 800 million users across the globe, but the number is inclusive of many fake accounts. Facebook agrees with the same, and has unveiled that 8.7% of total Facebook users are nothing but fake.
If to dissect the percentage then it will be found that 4.8% falls into the category of duplicate. Another 2.4% slips into the section of user-misclassified accounts and rest 1.5% can be termed as undesirable accounts.
Pavan Varma, who is handling the business of Facebook in India, was of the view that Facebook has been making all the possible efforts to reduce the bogus accounts. A lot many identification techniques are being used to ensure that misuse of accounts does not take place.
"It could even be that Facebook comes back to you saying, could you help us identify yourself if you don't have enough friends, because we don't want fake identities”, said Varma while explaining one of the methods that can be used by Facebook to ensure security.
It is not the first time when Facebook has taken such initiative. Earlier also, it took step to stop activities being created by malware as well as by spammers.
