Nelson and Winnie Mandela's daughters Zindziswa and Zenani have been invited at the Oscars in Los Angeles by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The pair will be attending the Oscars ceremony.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has invited the sisters so that they can see Irish band U2 perform on song from Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. The song has been nominated in the Oscars.
The movie, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, has shown Mandela's early life. The movie also covered Mandela's journey from the beginning of his campaign to end segregation in South Africa.
Idris Elba plays the role of Mandela in the movie. Edba has been appreciated for the performance and has been nominated for a Golden Globe. The film was not able to make its place in best film category and lost to nominees American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Gravity, 12 Years a Slave, Nebraska, Philomena and The Wolf of Wall Street among some other movies.
Zindziswa and Zenani have even released a statement. In it, they have mentioned that attending the Oscars have been quite meaningful to them. One of the main reasons for attending the ceremony is their father loved watching movies.
"[Ordinary Love] was inspired by the beautiful letters that my father and mother exchanged while he was imprisoned at Robben Island", read the statement. The Oscars will be held on March on Los Angeles.
