California Hospital Employee exposes over 1,000 to Tuberculosis

An employee working at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose has exposed more than 1,000 people, including 350 infants, 368 mothers or parents and 308 employees, to tuberculosis. The hospital officials said that they were notified in mid-November about one of its employees being suspected to have active tuberculosis.

Shkreli recently announced that he will increase the price of the decades-old drug for a serious infectious disease, the Chagas disease, a parasitic infection known to cause lethal heart problems. Antibiotic resistance reached to a new level when a new strain of E.coli was found that was impervious to the last line of defence medication and also has the ability to infect other bacteria. First time, it was found in China.

The strain was identified in a pig then it raw pork meat and then in a small number of people. The strain has been found in Germany, in a Danish man and also in Malaysia. Scientists have found that the strain to be carrying a gene known as mcr-1 and this gene makes it different from other E.coli. The gene could be the power house of the strain.

20 More Boston College Students suffer infection related to Chipotle

Nothing is going in favor of restaurant chain Chipotle Mexican Grill. Illness cases linked to E. coli outbreak are rising, shares of the company are dropping and people are avoiding its restaurants. Now, Boston College announced on Monday that over 20 of its students, including eight of its men’s basketball players, have fallen sick after eating at a Chipotle restaurant.

It is not known whether the Boston College illness cases are linked to E. coli outbreak of Denver-headquartered restaurant chain that has sickened more than 50 individuals in nine US states.
